ABOUT THE DEAL

Gavin led the acquisition of Prairie Meats.  At the time, the Company was owned and operated by its founder, Gene Dupuis, who had grown the company from its first retail butcher shop to a food service business with over $30m in annual sales and a fleet of trucks delivering high-quality meat across Saskatchewan.  Gene was nearing retirement and needed to sell his business.  He wanted to sell to a buyer that would continue to grow as an independent entity while supporting the employees, many of whom had worked for years at the company.

Gavin led negotiations on deal terms, diligence, and completion for the acquisition.  Following the transaction, he was the Chair of the company.  He created a succession plan and extended ownership of the company to key employees to build alignment.
